HISTORY OF SHAPES
The idea that anything along the streets can be considered a work of art from the moment a human being has intervened intrigues me; this is the concept of “Anonymous Sculptures” dear to many artists. I took these photographs of abandoned shapes and even walls to make the point that the idea of a work of art is much broader than one might think. We can train our eyes to see choreography or theatre scenes in the streets, to see garbage cans as sculptures or even to interpret sounds as music. Where is the boundary between what could be and what is not designated as art from the moment when a human being has intervened? Is art only a voluntary act? These photographs were taken within a radius of 100 meters around the Georges Pompidou center building site in Metz.
