SHAPES                            Begun February 2008

Impassioned by all of the shapes that surround us, and particularly by the “Anonymous Sculptures” all around us (cf Hilla and Bernd Becher), I am developing a study of sculptures.

Connected to an image, representation, architecture, or art history (and notably to primary materials such as raw clay or alabaster), these objects echo Chimeras and In the State and are pieces that can be studied in relation to some of my other photos, or they can be considered in their own right.

These are hybrid objects that borrow their lexicon from political or intimate situations and that are presented on the ground without the benefit of a pedestal, like anything you might find on the ground in the streets.
