EN L'ÉTAT Begun July 13, 1999

En l'état* is a collection of photographs taken in real-life situations, at times autonomous and sequential. Inventory of everyday life, collection of themes and obsessions, index of shapes, of gestures, of situations or incidents ( . . .), This collection is connected to the notion of receptivity in which we find ourselves facing the world.

Each image acts as a word with which you or I could write phrases, poems, or even tell stories. It is a sort of modest and poetic encyclopedia of my wanderings in public and private spaces.

This collection brings together tens of thousands images that are in the process of being indexed.

* En l'état is a french expression which could mean both "In the state" and "As is".
